I love Thanksgiving, and not just because it’s the time of year when it is completely acceptable to make and consume enormous quantities of pie.
I love te fact that it brings our family together, even if there are often “too many butts in the kitchen,” each trying to get their homemade dish into the already-crowded oven.
I love that this inspires innovative cooking, like my Grandpa’s famous barbequed apple pie.
Unfortunately, I missed out on all of that this year because I spent the bulk of Thanksgiving dinner trying to rock a fussy baby to sleep upstairs while everyone else enjoyed the turkey dinner downstairs. But in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I am so thankful for the sweet baby that was in my arms and the presence of my loved ones who were only a flight of stairs away.
